Michael Griffin would be keen to hear of any information around his ancestor Michael Griffin who emigrated from Ireland to Nightcaps around the 1870s, married Mary LEEN, and died in 1893.

I have just picked up on your query about your ancestor Michael Griffin two years after your post!! I have a copy of his will and the estate details signed by his executors, Edward Leen (his brother in law?) and James Flynn. He had 4 children, Mary Jane 1882, Catherine 1884,John 1886, & Margaret 1887. They are both buried in the Wreys Bush cemetery but I don't think they have a headstone. I thought this couple were my Griffins, John & Michael from Co Limerick Ireland and so followed up to see but alas he is not. John farmed at Te Wae Wae near Tuatapere, and the finding of a letter he wrote to family in Ireland gave me the information that Michael had left Southland and gone north! All three of these men married a Mary so problems arose. I would be happy to send you the relevant papers if you would like them.
